Philipp Esch

Born 1968 in Göttingen (D). 1986–1992, studied at ETH Zurich and the CEPT in Ahmadabad (India). 1994–1997, employed with Morger Degelo Architekten in Basel and HPP Hentrich Petschnigg Partner in Berlin. 1997–2002, assistant to Meinrad Morger and Martin Boesch at ETHZ and EPFL. Subsequently, until 2004, writer/editor for the journal Werk, Bauen + Wohnen. 2008, teaching position at the HSLU. Independent office from 1999 onwards, 2008–2023 as Esch Sintzel Architekten, together with Stephan Sintzel and since 2021 also Marco Rickenbacher. 2008, admission to the BSA. 2016–2023, member of the urban design expert group in Winterthur. 2017–2020, lecturer at the ZHAW. Since 2021, guest professor at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio. Since 2024 partner at SERA – Studio Esch Rickenbacher Architektur. Since 2025 member of the cityscape commission in Basel.

Simon Rott

Born in Bad Tölz (D), he studied at the University of Sheffield (UK) and TU Munich (D), where he graduated in 2017 with Prof. Dietrich Fink. Prior to joining Esch Sintzel Architekten in 2019, he worked for Adam Khan Architects in London. Several years of teaching freehand drawing at TU Munich and the establishment of publication series „Logbook Munich" on the matter of freehand drawing reflect his interest in art.



Nadja Moser

She completed her Bachelor’s degree at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in 2020, during which she spent an exchange semester at the University of Illinois in Chicago (USA). At Esch Sintzel Architekten she worked on «Weinlager», the residential conversion of a former wine warehouse in Basel. Before joining Atelier Esch as an assistant in 2025, she completed her Master’s degree in Mendrisio, where she also was a student assistant at Prof. Sascha Roesler’s chair.
